Colourfull things in our house (beside our pallete)
Plein air National Monument
The visit at National monument. The simple sketch of the cenotaph that was erected to remind us the ‘glorious dead’. To the heroes and heroines of my country sung or not, whether their name here or not- you will always be remembered. Al-Fatihah to those who were Muslim. I’m still not happy with the sketch, i think i can do better, but i feel much more patriotic and energetic today.
Have a nice day ahead..
The garden
The owner of the house left us an old computer table that have tiers for bulky CPU,speaker and what not. In the world of tablet, chrome book and internet TV,we found the computer table has no purpose at all.We drag it outside at the balcony and start to put flower pots on it.
Now, we own a small garden where we keep our orchids(btw, they are dying), and some other plants. The lower part of the computer table is more like a cemetery as we still keep some dead plant and bonsai.(I will post the image or the sketch of it later on). We keep them to remind us to maintain the living plant better. Sometime we also use it as model to practice still image drawing of branches, stems and etc.
Our garden is small but we like it very much. Especially after the rain, when they all fresh and well scented, a cup of cappuccino with biscotti and looking at them is therapeutic. I plan to add more flowers and pots to it and maybe expand the project by having a terrarium instead. We will see how it goes first…How bout u? Do you have a plant in your house? Glad to hear your story or what type of plant you keep, maybe we can use your tips .
Have a nice day ahead….
Hot and Cold
Plein Air on Weekdays
We visited the Islamic Art Museum Malaysia for the breath of fresh air in arts. Few of the pen and simple sketches that we made… We have found many beautiful collection, ideas, motives and pattern from the visit. More to come as
some sketches need colours. Left sketch of the beautiful inkwell from China. I don’t mind carrying those for my plein air eventhough it was made of porcelain and fragile. The right image of the sketch of the art gear of Islamic warrior. So many gears that he had to put on..and the top image of the beautiful carving on Ottoman Room ..
Enjoy your weekend everyone…
My wildlife obsession
Yes, i love animal .. watercolour and painting of wildlife is something i always love. This is American bison, here in Malaysia we hardly see animal with thick fur due to our humid whether. But as we are approaching the mountains, bear might exist- i just dont know what species is that. The only place to see these unique animals is in the zoo. They look foreign compare to our local animal such as Malayan tiger and Orang Utan. Even in the zoo, its a pity to see this animal lock in thick fur in hot weather. But, are’nt they cute?
Weekend Plein Air
This time our plein air subject for the week. Our goal is to sketch nature. This is the Pegaga, I believe it was called pennywort in English.Pegaga is for me like the mint, thyme or chives for the westerners. Housewives used to cook it, pair it as raw ulam. Here in Malaysia, Pegaga also act as window display as it brightened cubicle or desk. There are many benefits of Pegaga, some said it is an elixir of life due to the healing properties in it. Malays being use it for century for treating women during their confinement. Anyway, during this hot season, the best recipe for Pegaga is ice blended to cool your body. Do add a teaspoon of sugar if u cant take it bland …
Have a nice day ahead…
New style learned
Oh, we are sorry to leave our beloved haileyasyikin for a quite sometimes. This is what we being doing…. study a new branch of watercolour painting… As everyone knew, we always draw with ink and watercolour, never water colour only our paint directly from pencil. This is a new sketch with and without pen.. What do you think ? The first sketch is watercolour and graphite, the later is the usual pen with watercolour. Me? Personally i think its good, but since we have started draw with ink and watercolour its hard to change. Maybe this is a new branch of arts that needs more practice and can be developed more. Argh, maybe also this mean a rest to our many fountain & rasam pens and not forgetting our heavy used chinese ink for a while….
Orchidaceae
